Sunrise Beach High School

9th – 12th Grade

Sunrise Beach High School curriculum provides Advanced Placement college-preparatory learning, as well as a foundation for independent thinking and diversity appreciation. We encourage students to learn about both themselves and the world around them.

Teach with student

Mastery Learning Model

Sunrise Beach High School teaches all courses through a Classical Education theory, as well as the Mastery Learning Model, which fosters lasting learning experiences and increased comprehension. Teachers use interactive classroom environments, Mastery Learning Techniques, hands-on manipulatives, college-level science equipment for all grades.

College Preparatory & Advanced Placement

Sunrise Beach Curriculum is based on the Mastery Learning Model, and within that model, we offer three options for College Preparatory Programs. These include:

  1. College in the High School courses through the University of Washington (highlighted below), as well as Central Washington University and Eastern Washington University.
  2. Advanced Placement Courses
  3. The College Board AP Scholar Program

Advanced Placement

We offer Washington State Accredited Advanced Placement (AP) courses. These courses provide students with a head start on college coursework. Students who enroll in AP courses and take exams are more likely to enter and complete college. As such, we encourage all our High School students to consider these options.

University of Washington in High School Program

Through the University of Washington in High School (UWHS) program, high school students can complete University of Washington courses and earn college credit in their own classrooms with their own teachers. Students and teachers use UW curriculum, activities, texts, tests, and grading scales.

As with standard modern college courses, students earn a final grade over time; a grade does not depend on one exam. Students receive recognition for their college work.

Joyful Pursuit of Learning

Sunrise Beach encourages the full development of student potential in all elements of learning. We believe Christ has called us into a joyful purist of learning. As such, we strive to foster a joyful pursuit of learning that lasts a lifetime. Our curriculum encourages all students to grow in their understanding of Advanced Academics, as well Christian Leadership, Citizenship, Moral Character, and Spiritual Growth.
