Immunization Requirements & Compliance
Washington State law requires that all students in K-12 schools, public and private, meet the state’s immunization requirements before attending school. We follow Washington State Immunization Guidelines as set by the Washington State Department of Health and Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).

- A Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) signed by a healthcare provider.
- A Certificate of Exemption (COE) for medical, personal, or religious reasons, signed by a healthcare provider (except for religious membership exemptions).

Exemptions & Personal Beliefs
Sunrise Beach School respects the rights of parents to make informed medical decisions for their children. Under Washington State law, families may file an exemption from vaccinations for:
✔ Medical Reasons (certified by a healthcare provider)
✔ Religious Beliefs (certified by a religious leader or self-certified for deeply held religious beliefs)
✔ Personal Philosophical Beliefs (Note: Personal belief exemptions are not allowed for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccines per Washington State law)

Preventing the Spread of Communicable Diseases
As a faith-based learning environment, we emphasize personal responsibility, community care, and stewardship of health. To maintain a safe school environment, we follow public health best practices to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
✔ Stay Home if Sick
Students should stay home if they experience any of the following:
- Fever of 100.4°F or higher
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Unexplained rash
- Severe cough or respiratory symptoms

We continue to follow Washington State Department of Health recommendations for managing COVID-19, flu, RSV, and other viral illnesses. Families should:
- Follow quarantine & isolation guidelines when necessary.
- Notify the school if a student tests positive for a communicable disease.
- Encourage proper handwashing and hygiene to reduce the spread of illness.
